Experience Turkey
Thermal Springs
The warm springs of Pamukkale, the hammam tradition and historic spa towns – Turkey is a true paradise of thermal waters.
Thanks to its geological activity, Turkey is rich in hot springs. Their healing properties were already known to the Romans, who built baths – and even entire spa cities – around them.
Where to enjoy thermal waters
- Pamukkale and Hierapolis – bathing in the Antique Pool among submerged columns.
- Bursa – an old Ottoman city with traditional thermal baths.
- Afyonkarahisar – one of the best-known thermal centres in the country.
The hammam
The Turkish bath, or hammam, is a centuries-old ritual of relaxation: warming up on heated marble, followed by a scrub and a foam massage. Many historic hammams are still in use today, and a visit to one is a lovely way to end a day of sightseeing.
